Sleeping and eating

Lupa Masa is not a comfortable and cosy lodge - it is a wilderness camp that offers few comforts and luxuries. If this sounds like fun then you will probably love the place.

Sleeping is in either the new shared longhouse overlooking the river on comfortable mattress with mosquito net, on the older style stretcher hammocks or in tents.

By late afternoon the temperature and humidity is near perfect, evenings require shorts and t-shirts only, it is rare to find a mosquito at Lupa Masa. Nights can be cool by 4 or 5 a.m so a thin sleeping bag or sleep sheet is required. These are included in the cost of the stay but you are required to collect them in Poring yourself before you come in. Your deposit will be returned when you depart. This is done to reduce power and soap use at the camp.

Food served is a combination of local and western and usually vegetarian with lots of local fruit. Most of the food comes from the local markets and surrounding villages.
