How to reach Lupa Masa:

Lupa Masa is 30 min trek from Poring Hot Springs park in Sabah, Borneo. The last 15 mins is through a jungle trail that is often muddy and does sometimes have one or two leeches! There are no roads to the camp.

You will be met in the Poring village and guided in. This is usually between 2-3 p.m.

We recommend you store your main bags safely in the village for a nominal charge. Please do not bring your own food into the camp - help keep unwanted pests away.

Poring Hot Springs itself is 1 hour from the main Kinabalu Park H.Q and 3 hours from state capital Kota Kinabalu. By public bus go to Ranau and change to local bus or taxi (30-40 myr and 30 mins) to reach Poring - alternatively we can help organise.

Coming from Sandakan which is approx 5 hours away asked to be dropped off at the Poring junction, 15 mins past Sabah Tea and we can arrange a taxi pick up for approximately 30 myr. If coming or going from Kudat  you must reach Tampuruli and change bus or ask about a shared direct transfer in either direction and save wasted time!

Finally if you are climbing Mt Kinabalu we do not suggest staying at Lupa Masa the same day you come down - your legs will be too tired. Instead reach the hot springs, check into a cheap room nearby such as Ernah Lodge (088-876421) and go and soak in the hot tubs after the day trippers have left. Then come in the next day.

Lupa Masa is a great place to prepare for the climb with some steep hill treks surrounding the camp and it is feasible with an early start to leave Lupa Masa and climb that same day. If you require help on booking the mountain climb please send an email...Prices from 750 myr per person...
